TIMELIT News
Welcome to TIMELIT. The database is currently undergoing many developments and improvements that we hope you will find of use.
TIMELIT Update - August 2001
TIMELIT has recently more than doubled in size, from 14,000 to
nearly 30,000 citations describing evidence in medical education
The expansion will continue over the next few months as citations
relevant to education in medicine, and the professions allied to
medicine, are added.
Records now link to fulltext articles on the web when available (e.g.
The British Medical Journal); we intend to soon add other relevant
links to records when possible.
Improved accuracy:
New citations are being indexed with Medical Subject Headings
(MeSH) to improve recall. MeSH are copyrighted by U.S. National
Library of Medicine, 8600 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20894
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/nlmhome.html MeSH will be used to describe
content relevant to medical and related concepts.
We are continuing to develop a taxonomy (or controlled vocabulary)
to index content specific to medical education. When the prototype is
completed this autumn it will be made available on the TIMELIT
website.
